Miguel has a long way to go in his career before Prince makes for a fair comparison, but based on the way he can captivate in a barenbones live performance of a song like “Pussy is Mine,” he’s off to a pretty good start. The black & white performance video of this “Mine” rendition is impressively electric, with Miguel nailing every note and each of his ad libs and doing a great job of teasing the crowd, including an arguably-borderline section at the end where he lets the mic dangle suggestively by his crotch.
“PARENTAL ADVISORY” the clip claims about 2/3 of the way through, presumably because Miggy is about to break out the falsetto. It’s true—impressionable young viewers would have a lot of questions about those high notes that adults might not yet be prepared to answer.
