Info Post

She might have been living in the shadow of her sister’s expanding empire, her mom’s hottness and her dad’s lifestyle wardrobe changes, but Ashlee Simpson is planning a return to music. A Halloween post on her official site previews new track, “Bat For A Heart,” which will premiere in full alongside its music video on November 21. In 51 seconds we see Ashlee return to her blunt blonde cut and smoky eyes, and hear her do some work in front of the hand-held camera, purring seductively, “I know you want it now” in between shots of her converse sneakers—so everything hasn’t changed. In case those experiments with black hair and a Fall Out Boy bassist didn’t leave you convinced she wasn’t just a younger version of her sister, the bubbly human quote machine, the chorus serves as a rejection for anything previously Joe Simpson-approved: “I’m gonna bang bang fuck you up, twist you out inside of my head,” she sings. Have fun hiding that chorus from Bronx for a few more years.

For those tracking Ashlee’s career and hair colors, it’s been two years since her last studio album (Bittersweet World) and eight years since a certain late-night television snafu. Long enough, that new fans might not even know what Saturday Night Live is, let alone Ash’s infamous jig.
